Join DCRT and Faunagraphic for a three-day workshop focusing on using spray paint to create art. Young people aged 11 – 18 will spray their own design on to a currently unloved wall along the Sheffield – Rotherham canal within the theme of wildlife and waterways history. The aim of these workshops is to change the perceptions of the area as well as teaching young people new skills and getting them outside.
Workshops will take place on the 5th, 6th and 9th of August, 10am – 3.30pm

Explore the nature stalls with activities such as pipe cleaner crittas, river dipping, who dung it?, significant otter, and bats & butterflies.
The Bean Rover will be on hand to keep you going with lots of sandwiches and coffee. There will also be an accessible toilet on site.
To reach the Cemetery please use the postcode S62ET and follow the road to the end of Livesey Street. Sheffield College has kindly offered their car park as an overflow, please follow the signs. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. The site is only partly accessible with steep hills and some uneven ground.
Join Alistair McLean, Curator of Natural Sciences at Museums Sheffield, for the annual survey of Daubenton’s Bats along this stretch of the River Don.
The walk will be along a footpath at night so please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear and bring a torch. A limited number of bat detectors will be available for use.
Meet at Wards End Bridge, at the end of Livesey St, Owlerton.

Litter picking and conservation groups in the Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster areas will be joining up for a litter pick and and picnic at Centenary Riverside Park this summer! Get together with your friends of group, litter picking team or local community group together and meet some of the other people that are making a difference in the area. A great opportunity to meet other groups and celebrate what we have all achieved.
A join event with our partners Love Where You Live Rotherham and The Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
Refreshments will be provided (cakes and soft drinks) but please feel free to bring along a picnic or blanket. There will be a table for each group to display any leaflets or information they would like to share and some activities for groups to get involved with including litter picking, pond dipping and adding to our map! Rotherham Council will be asking volunteers to add their painted hand prints to a collage, to reflect the ‘helpful hands of volunteers’ which will then be used to decorate Coleridge Children’s Centre. Refreshment, snacks and blankets will be provided.

River Rescue Day: Shirtcliffe brook clean-up Meeting Point: Meet in the small car park off Beaver Hill Road (close to the Badger Road junction) Time: 10am-1pm with a break for refreshments.
Task: We will be pulling any balsam we find as well as removing any litter and debris from the channel.

Volunteers are welcome to get on the boat from Swinton Lock Activity Center (Dun St, Swinton, Mexborough S64 8AN ) at 9am for an hours cruise along the canal. Alternatively, you may wish to join us at Low Lock (Low Lock House. Off, Pastures Rd, Mexborough, Doncaster DN12 4ET) at 10am for the official start of the litter pick. From here we will enter the Don navigation and start litterpicking those usually hard to reach places returning to Low Lock for 1pm.
