So where does all that litter we pick from the riverside go? The vast majority of it is taken away by Streetpride and delivered to the BDR Waste Treatment Facility. This award-winning plant extracts any remaining recyclable materials from household waste and turns what's left into fuel for low carbon electricity! The facility diverts around 95% of waste from landfill, making a significant carbon dioxide saving.

Shanks, who have also funded the LHRD project, have organised a tour of the BDR waste facility so we can see this whole process in action!

If you would like to come along on the 10am-12pm tour please email info@dcrt.org.uk or get in touch with one of the team via text. We will need to know your shoe size and jacket size (S, M, L, XL, 2XL) in advance so that Shanks can organise our safety clothing for the day. Parking is limited at Shanks so we will also be organising car-shares.
