Breaking the weir

Now that the dam is in place, a machine has been lowered to do the hard work of breaking the weir out to enable the fish pass to be built.

Delays at Meadowhall

Unfortunately there have been a few delays on the work on the fish pass at Meadowhall.  The contractors couldn’t get the dam to seal properly, then once they had done that they found some contaminated sediments behind the weir which needed to be pumped into containers to be disposed of safely. Sheffield Rivers Festival

We had a good day at the Rivers Festival on Nursery St, Sheffield.  Lots of river based groups attended and we met lots of people who were interested in our invertebrate identification with beasties taken out of the river at Blonk St – it’s teeming with them!
