Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust at Priory Farm in Renishaw to build leaky barriers across the brook and floodplain to slow flows. There is a lot of Himalayan balsam at the site and it may be that we need to do some clearance of it before being able to build the leaky barriers. We will send an update of the days activities closer to the time but we'll hopefully be able to do both Balsam bashing and leaky barrier building!

Task: Removing Himalayan balsam and creating leaky barriers using hand tools (e.g. hand saws, loppers, maul) and lifting aids (e.g. timber tongs and log lifters) to prepare, move and fix logs into position.

Waterproofs are also worth bringing if you have them. Steel toe wellies will be required which we will provide but you’re welcome to bring your own if you have them. We will also provide refreshments and biscuits for a tea break but please bring water and any other food you may need.
