  • 27-03-24 10:00 - 27-03-24 13:00

Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust and the Angling Trust as we help to clean up litter along the Five Weirs Walk at Salmon Pastures.

We will be working along the north bank of the river - along the path, in the nature reserve, and hopefully in the river itself if the river levels allow for it. Those who are up for it will have the opportunity to go into the river using waders and help pull out the litter in the vegetation. This is a collaborative event between DCRT and the Angling Trust, as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign (15-31st March). This campaign is ran by Keep Britain Tidy, helping to promote that 'the environment belongs to everyone'. The Angling Trust have their own ongoing campaign, Anglers Against Litter, which looks at caring for our freshwater environments and protecting wildlife from the dangers of litter by taking 5 minutes at the end of every fishing session to pick up litter.

For this event, please book on via Eventbrite, even if you are an existing volunteer. All are welcome to attend, this will just help us gauge how much equipment we need.

    When: Thursday 27th March 2024, 10am-1pm.

Where: We will be meeting the Five Weirs Walk gate to the east of Salmon Pastures. See Google pin here. There is free parking on Warren Street

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] or contacting task leader Charlotte Landry-Jennings.
