As part of Chesterfield's Walking Festival, Matt Duffy (Fishery Officer) and Debbie Coldwell (Natural Flood Management (NFM) Officer) for a guided walk along the River Hipper and Holmebrook.

Starting at the confluence of the River Hipper and Rother, we will be strolling the riverside footpath taking in aspects of fishery management and NFM along the way. The route follows footpaths but these may be muddy so please wear appropriate clothing. Once at Queen’s Park, we will then follow the Holmebrook through the county park ending the walk at the pavilion where walkers will be able to use the toilet and have lunch in the café if required.

Take this opportunity to learn more about the work DCRT do in your local area and ask questions about all things fishery and natural flood management!

As part of Chesterfield Walking Festival, Debbie our NFM officer will be guiding a walk around Grassmoor Country Park to explore a recently completed flood alleviation and habitat creation scheme. Find out how DCRT are using nature-friendly ways to catch and store water - reducing flood risk, protecting people and benefitting wildlife.

We will explore 4 different zones in the park that have been created to capture and store rainfall and runoff, reducing pressure on the local river network during heavy rainfall, and completing the circular park route with 360-degree views over Chesterfield.

We will be on and off path during this walk and it may be muddy underfoot so appropriate footwear is recommended. This walk is circular so we will finish back at the car park.
