Did you know –Invasive species are considered an even bigger threat to biodiversity than climate change? Invasive species are animals or plants that have been introduced outside their normal ranges by humans and cause damage to their new environment. Without their usual predators around, some introduced species can change habitats beyond recognition and have a negative impact on other species, becoming invasive.
Join us for an introduction into the world of Invasive Non-native Species (INNS). Learn how to identify our most common invasive species of plants and animal, and understand the impact they are having here in Yorkshire. We will also look at biosecurity, what it is, why it is important and how it can prevent the spread of INNS.

A riverside walk all about ‘slowing the flow’, following the Holme Brook from Loundsley Green, through Holme Brook Valley park and up to Linacre reservoirs.
Natural flood management is an effective and nature-friendly way of catching and storing high rainfall and floodwater. On this afternoon stroll up the Holme Brook, Don Catchment Rivers Trust will be explaining how simple, relatively small-scale measures, such as tree-planting and pond-creation, can add up to create real benefits, helping to reduce flooding, protect people and improve our natural environment.
Walk grading – A 6-mile circular walk This is a moderate walk (walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness).
