    Join us for a volunteer day in Hexthorpe Park on Tuesday 4th November, litter-picking around the park and riverside

    Parking: Free on street parking along Greenfield Lane and nearby.

    All equipment will be provided but please wear warm clothes, sturdy shoes and bring waterproofs.
    We will bring the tea, coffee and biscuits!

    Help us investigate water quality in Grassmoor Country park!
    We’ll be assessing the water quality at 7 sites, building up a picture of what type of pollution is found at the park and where it might be coming from

    When: Thursday 13th October, 10am-12.30pm
    If any of the sites are dried up we may finish early

  • Meadow Sowing at Grassmoor Country Park

    Help us sow the meadows of Grassmoor Country park!
    We’ll be sowing meadow seed onto the newly created features in the park that will help slow the flow of storm waters into the river network and diversify the wildlife habitat within the park.

     

    When: Sunday 16th October, 10am-1.00pm

  • Bentley Mill – Volunteer Day

    Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way and Litter Free Team as we work to clean the Bentley Mill Dike. We will be working both in the channel and along the banks of the stream.

    Parking: Parking is on Limbreck Court road. There is other on street parking in the area and free parking at the pavilion. Just be careful when crossing the busy main road!

     

    Waders, life jackets and protective gear is provided to volunteers. If you are litter picking around the river (not wading) we recommend wearing sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for outdoor work. All waders and shoes are cleaned at the end of the day.
    We will bring the tea, coffee and biscuits.

    Unfortunately, with heavy rain and storms forecast on Sunday we have postponed this event as any seed sown is likely to be washed away! Our next meadow sowing days at Grassmoor will be on Thursday 27th October and Thursday 3rd November, 10am-1pm.

    Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we litter pick along the footpaths of the River Don at Meadow Way in Swinton.

    On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. We will be stopping half way through for a tea break. On the day you will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We can provide wellingtons and waders however we won’t be able to provide footwear for every volunteer.
