Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we work to clean up in and around the Meers Brook close to Plowright Drive.
On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. We will be stopping half way through for a tea break. On the day you will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We can provide wellingtons and waders however we won’t be able to provide footwear for every volunteer.

Join DCRT for a training day on how to use underwater cameras to film aquatic species.
We will be getting into the water to learn how to set up and place underwater cameras (GoPros) in order to get the best footage using pole mounted and weighted cameras. We will be mainly capturing video footage. There is a possibility of reaching into the water so attendees may wish to bring a spare change of clothing. All other necessary equipment will be provided by DCRT.
Training will happen on Wednesday 2nd March on the River Don at Wardsend Cemetery, Livesey Street, S6 2ET- 10am – 12pm.
If attendees enjoy this training there will be more opportunties to use our equipment for future projects.
This training session will be led by Matt Duffy (fishery habitat officer).

Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we walk the Don Valley Way to replace any missing or damaged way markers along the route.
We will be meeting at Rotherham Railway Station and progressing along the Don Valley Way at 10am and will walk to Meadowhall Railway Station. It should take 3-4 hours but we can not be sure how long it will take. There are trains from Meadowhall to Rotherham throughout the day however so it should be easy to get back to the start.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear on the day. Volunteers must arrive before 10am as we will be leaving then. Please bring your own lunch and drink for the day as we will not be able to provide refreshments on this day. Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as they help to remove litter from the area of the Don close to Warmswoth Cemetery.
On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm with a break half way through for refreshments. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the saftey of all volunteers. Please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work. We can provide wellingtons on the day but have a limited amount so please wear suitable footwear.
Tasks: natural flood management – leaky dam maintenance
Timing: 10am – 3pm
The day will involve maintenance of the leaky dams and mini-dams installed on previous volunteer days in the woods that help to slow the flow of storm waters. This will include activities such as clearing the debris and silt that has built up behind the dams following the winter storms and increasing the height of mini-dams by sawing and fixing small timbers across ditches. Please do join us if you like getting your hands dirty and having a good work out! Long sleeves, trousers and waterproofs are recommended. All other equipment will be provided.
There are a limited number of spaces available so you will need to book on to sessions in advance.
