The Yorkshire Invasive Species Forum (YISF), a partnership between Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and University of Leeds, will facilitate a practical workshop which encourages attendees to map past, present and aspirational INNS activity within the Don & Rother Catchment. Attendees will have opportunities to discuss with fellow stakeholders how to join-up activity and coordinate efforts in a strategic approach, which delivers the most benefits for native wildlife within the Don & Rother Catchment.

Location: Monkey Park, Chester St, Chesterfield S40 1DN
What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes.
Tasks include: We will be installing a bench on this day but we will be also litter picking, debris removal, vegetation maintenance, invasive species management and access improvements.
Timings: Day runs 10am – 1pm but feel free to come whenever suits. We have a tea break around 11.30am.

Location: Breck Farm Watermeadows. Please be prepared for a full day out on site, there are no toilets or facilities and the site is rural (no footpaths).

An evening course delivered by Principal Ecologist and bat expert Robert Bell on how to identify, record and survey the bat species found around the rivers in Chesterfield. The evening will finish with a dusk bat walk around the river Rother and the Avenue Washlands, where we will practise using bat detectors to identify different species by their characteristic sounds.

Easter Holiday and St George’s Day both memorable events so make it a special day and join the Friends of the Don Valley Way on St Mary’s bridge for a general clean up and litter pic. We shall be working along the river bank and under the bridge and generally tidying up the area and cutting back any vegetation that needs doing. Meet at the entrance to the Don Valley Way on St Mary’s bridge next to the Volkswagen showroom. Parking behind the pub opposite. Coffee and biscuits will help keep you going. Come along and have fun.

We will be litter picking the area around the Chapel and along the river Don on the Don Valley Way. Equipment will be provided on the day. We will have a break half way through for refreshments that will be provided. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor work.
