    Litter Pick Kilnhurst- Don Valley Way

    Join Friends of the Don Valley Way where we will be litter picking the entrance to and along the canal and river paths.

    Equipment provided but please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

    Meeting point on Carlisle Street, continue under the bridge to the end of the road where you will see the entrance to the canal.

    Monkey Park Volunteer Day

    Join Don Catchment Rivers Trust for a volunteer day cleaning-up the river. All abilities welcome!

    Location: Monkey Park, Chester St, Chesterfield S40 1DN

    What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes.

    Tasks include: We will be installing a bench on this day but we will be also litter picking, debris removal, vegetation maintenance, invasive species management and access improvements.

    Timings: Day runs 10am – 1pm but feel free to come whenever suits. We have a tea break around 11.30am.

    Citizen Science: freshwater invertebrate survey

    The citizen science team will be monitoring the River rother for freshwater invertebrates.
    Interested in joining the citizen science team? Read more about the role and applying on our Volunteering page or conact Sally: [email protected]

    Time: 10am-3pm
    Task: Kick-sampling, sorting groups of invertebrates, further identification using keys, data-collection, specimen collection and labelling. Training provided.
    Location: Breck Farm Watermeadows. Please be prepared for a full day out on site, there are no toilets or facilities and the site is rural (no footpaths).
