World Fish Migration Day - Sheffield Fish Pass Walk
Chris Firth, DCRT trustee and MBE, will be leading a walk around Sheffield’s Fish Passes and telling the tale of the fall and recovery of the river Don. The walk will follow the river Don along the 5 Weirs Walk, starting at Meadowhall and leading towards Lady’s Bridge in Sheffield.
Sheffield’s rivers were once rich in Atlantic salmon but human degradation of the river put an end to this famous migration. Hear about how the building of fish passes is reconnecting isolated fragments of river, helping to bring back the return of salmon for the first time in 200 years.
The event is free but booking essential – email [email protected] to book a place or find out more
