On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. We will be stopping half way through for a tea break. On the day you will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We can provide wellingtons and waders however we won’t be able to provide footwear for every volunteer. 14 - Data4Nature at Wardsend Cemetery: Bird Survey
10:00 -12:00 14-03-22 1A Club Mill Rd, Sheffield S6 2FH, UK  Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, DCRT and the friends of Wardsend Cemetery have teamed up to collect Data for Nature as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Data for Nature project. We’ll be hosting monthly bird surveys in the Cemetery and on the riverside to help collect data and monitor birdlife in the area If you have birding skills we’d really appreciate your help surveying, or if you are a beginner come along to practise your skills! 21 | 22 - Waymarking – Don Valley Way (Rotherham Station – Meadowhall Station) CANCELLED
10:00 -13:00 22-03-22 Cannot determine address at this location. Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we walk the Don Valley Way to replace any missing or damaged way markers along the route. We will be meeting at Rotherham Railway Station and progressing along the Don Valley Way at 10am and will walk to Meadowhall Railway Station. It should take 3-4 hours but we can not be sure how long it will take. There are trains from Meadowhall to Rotherham throughout the day however so it should be easy to get back to the start. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear on the day. Volunteers must arrive before 10am as we will be leaving then. Please bring your own lunch and drink for the day as we will not be able to provide refreshments on this day. 28 | 29 - Newfield Spring Woods (Moss Valley) – NFM Volunteer Day (must book)

Tasks: natural flood management – leaky dam maintenance Timing: 10am – 3pm The day will involve maintenance of the leaky dams and mini-dams installed on previous volunteer days in the woods that help to slow the flow of storm waters. This will include activities such as clearing the debris and silt that has built up behind the dams following the winter storms and increasing the height of mini-dams by sawing and fixing small timbers across ditches. Please do join us if you like getting your hands dirty and having a good work out! Long sleeves, trousers and waterproofs are recommended. All other equipment will be provided. There are a limited number of spaces available so you will need to book on to sessions in advance.
