Meers Brook - River Rescue
Gleadless Valley Methodist ChurchCannot determine address at this location.Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we work to clean up in and around the Meers Brook close to Blackstock Road.
On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. We will be stopping half way through for a tea break. On the day you will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We can provide wellingtons and waders however we won’t be able to provide footwear for every volunteer.

River Rother Balsam Bash NFM
David Clayton's Farm NFMAve Farm, ChesterfieldJoin the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we tackle the invasive plant species Himalayan Balsam along the banks of the River Rother, helping to increase the diversity of plants, reduce erosion, and protect the river banks.
We will be meeting at 10am and finishing by 3pm with breaks for tea and lunch. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. You will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing – long sleeves, trousers and sturdy footwear are recommended.

Please note there is limited parking available at the meeting point. If you intend to drive it would be greatly appreciated if you could park nearby and walk to the meeting point. The Avenue Country Park car park is about a 15 minute walk away (see map below). A DCRT staff member will be in the Avenues car park at 9.45am to show people the way so please be there in time to meet them if you would like to walk together to the meeting point. Meadow Survey
Grassmoor Country ParkGrassmoor Country Park, Birkin Lane, Chesterfield, S42 5DAHelp us monitor the vegetation at Grassmoor Country Park to determine how it changes as a result of our natural flood management and habitat enhancement scheme.
We will be repeating the meadow surveys carried out last year as part of our baseline monitoring of the park so that we can see how things change once works get underway later this year. We encourage those who took part last year to join us again and welcome new volunteers who would like to get involved. Though some experience of plant ID would be helpful, it’s not essential so please do some along if you would like to et involved and learn about some of the plants found in the country park.
Meet at 10am at the main car park for Grassmoor County Park (south Car Park) off Birkin Lane. Tea and biscuits will be provided but please bring lunches and water with you along with waterproofs if rain is forecast!

Tasks include: Litter picking, channel debris/litter removal
Timings: 10am – 1pm (break 11.30am)

Drone - Volunteer Day
Mill Lane Nature ReserveMill Lane Nature Reserve, 227 Mill Ln, Dronfield S18 1XG, UKJoin Don Catchment Rivers Trust (in partnership with the Dronfield Civic Society) for a volunteer day cleaning-up the River Drone. Supervised children and all abilities welcome!
Location: Please meet at Mill Lane Nature Reserve on Mill lane, Dronfield, S18 1XG. Best parking is at Dronfield Train Station and walk down to the meeting point. Remember to keep your parking receipt to claim expenses.
What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes.
Tasks include: Litter picking, debris removal, vegetation maintenance, invasive species management and access improvements.
Timings: Day runs 10am – 1pm but feel free to come whenever suits. We have a tea break around 11.30am.
