10:00 -13:00 07-06-22 Cannot determine address at this location.  Join the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we work to clean up in and around the Meers Brook close to Blackstock Road. On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. We will be stopping half way through for a tea break. On the day you will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We can provide wellingtons and waders however we won’t be able to provide footwear for every volunteer. | 8 | 9 - River Rother Balsam Bash NFM
All day 09-06-22  Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we tackle the invasive plant species Himalayan Balsam along the banks of the River Rother, helping to increase the diversity of plants, reduce erosion, and protect the river banks. We will be meeting at 10am and finishing by 3pm with breaks for tea and lunch. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. You will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing – long sleeves, trousers and sturdy footwear are recommended. If you are not yet signed up to volunteer with us, please do so by emailing [email protected]. Please note there is limited parking available at the meeting point. If you intend to drive it would be greatly appreciated if you could park nearby and walk to the meeting point. The Avenue Country Park car park is about a 15 minute walk away (see map below). A DCRT staff member will be in the Avenues car park at 9.45am to show people the way so please be there in time to meet them if you would like to walk together to the meeting point. 13 | 14 - Meadow Survey
10:00 -15:00 14-06-22 Grassmoor Country Park, Birkin Lane, Chesterfield, S42 5DA  Help us monitor the vegetation at Grassmoor Country Park to determine how it changes as a result of our natural flood management and habitat enhancement scheme. We will be repeating the meadow surveys carried out last year as part of our baseline monitoring of the park so that we can see how things change once works get underway later this year. We encourage those who took part last year to join us again and welcome new volunteers who would like to get involved. Though some experience of plant ID would be helpful, it’s not essential so please do some along if you would like to et involved and learn about some of the plants found in the country park. Meet at 10am at the main car park for Grassmoor County Park (south Car Park) off Birkin Lane. Tea and biscuits will be provided but please bring lunches and water with you along with waterproofs if rain is forecast! 10:00 -13:00 18-06-22 Mill Lane Nature Reserve, 227 Mill Ln, Dronfield S18 1XG, UK  Join Don Catchment Rivers Trust (in partnership with the Dronfield Civic Society) for a volunteer day cleaning-up the River Drone. Supervised children and all abilities welcome! Location: Please meet at Mill Lane Nature Reserve on Mill lane, Dronfield, S18 1XG. Best parking is at Dronfield Train Station and walk down to the meeting point. Remember to keep your parking receipt to claim expenses. What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes. Tasks include: Litter picking, debris removal, vegetation maintenance, invasive species management and access improvements. Timings: Day runs 10am – 1pm but feel free to come whenever suits. 20 - Data4Nature at Wardsend Cemetery: Bird Survey
10:00 -12:00 20-06-22 1A Club Mill Rd, Sheffield S6 2FH, UK  Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, DCRT and the friends of Wardsend Cemetery have teamed up to collect Data for Nature as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Data for Nature project. We’ll be hosting monthly bird surveys in the Cemetery and on the riverside to help collect data and monitor birdlife in the area If you have birding skills we’d really appreciate your help surveying, or if you are a beginner come along to practise your skills! 10:00 -15:00 22-06-22  On these summer sessions we will be tackling Himalayan Balsam in the Moss Valley. Locations for these days will vary so please email [email protected] for more information. Timings: We will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 3pm. What to bring: Please wear long sleeves and trousers to avoid being nettled. If you are staying for the full day please bring a packed lunch. We will provide warm drinks (Tea, coffee ect) and some biscuits.

27 | 28 - Newfield Spring Woods (Moss Valley) – NFM Volunteer Day (must book)

Tasks: River & vegetation surveys Timing: 10am – 3pm We will be carrying out surveys around the leaky barriers we’ve been installing to slow flows during heavy rainfall to help us get a better understanding of if and how these barriers influence the vegetation around the dams and the river channel. Training will be given on the day and though some experience of plant ID would be helpful, it’s not essential. All welcome! Sturdy footwear, long sleeves, trousers and waterproofs are recommended.
