Data4Nature at Wardsend Cemetery: Butterfly Survey
Wardsend Cemetery1A Club Mill Rd, Sheffield S6 2FH, UKSheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, DCRT and the friends of Wardsend Cemetery have teamed up to collect Data for Nature as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Data for Nature project.
We’ll be hosting two butterfly surveys in July and August, in place of our usual Bird Surveys, and comparing our results to last year’s data.When: Monday 21st August 2023, 10am-12pm.

Daubenton's Bat Survey
Cannot determine address at this location.Join us for a National Bat Monitoring Scheme Waterways Survey, looking for and recording sightings of the wonderful river-loving Daubenton’s Bat. We will be completing two waterways surveys during August, on the 9th and 23rd. Please note the different times of each survey as we coordinate bat surveys with sunset times.
When: Wednesday 23rd August 2023
Time: Evening session, meeting at 9pm, finishing at 10pm
Where: 3 Cherry Ln, Doncaster DN5 8AF (parking on the road outside the Everyday Athletes Gym)

Wilder Salmon Pastures - Community Volunteer Day (must book)
Join Don Catchment Rivers Trust for a volunteer day at Salmon Pastures. All abilities welcome!
If you would like to join our events and are new to the Trust, please email [email protected] to get signed up!
There are a limited number of spaces available so you will need to book on to sessions in advance.
Location: Salmon Pastures, Sheffield, S4 7DZ (a more precise meeting point will be sent once you’ve signed up to the event)
What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing (waterproof, long sleeves and trousers) and sturdy shoes.
Tasks include: Felling/hinging small willow trees to provide cover for fish using hand tools. This task will involve entering the river channel in waders and making a cut in the tree that will fell it, whilst retaining an attachment at its base – much like hedge laying. All techniques will be explained at the beginning of the day as well as a health and safety talk.
Timings: 10am – 3pm (break 11.30am and 1pm)
