Natural flood management – leaky dam maintenance

Join DCRT and the Friends of Newfield Spring Woods on a volunteer morning to carry out maintenance works of leaky dams installed in the woods that help to slow the flow of storm waters.

When: 26th September, 10am – 1pm (refreshment break provided by DCRT at 11.30)

Where: Newfield Spring Woods, Moss Valley, Sheffield

What to bring: Long sleeves, trousers and waterproofs that you don’t mind getting muddy! All other equipment will be provided.

Tasks include: Clearing the debris and silt that has built up behind the leaky dams and potentially making adjustments to the dams themselves to improve how well they function. We’ll be in shallow waters using rakes, spades, and other hand tools.
