Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we work to remove litter in and along the River Don in Sheffield. We will be aiming to remove large debris off the fish pass on the weir and haul it over the wall. We will be using a ladder to go down the wall onto Walk Mill Island at Effingham Street, and hauling up the litter using ropes and ton sacs. Confidence/competence to use the ladder is required for this activity.

When: Thursday 7th November 2024, 10am – 1pm

Where: We will be meeting at the junction of Effingham Street and Furnival Road, S10 1AA. Free parking is available on Effingham Street on the single yellow lines.

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] to ensure we have your size. 

What to expect: We will be working along the banks of the river, collecting litter and brining it back up to the road. We will aim to remove large items of litter from in the river but will evaluate the safety of this on the day as this is the main river Don. We will have a break at 11:30 am for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.
