DCRT will bring the clipboards, survey forms and identification sheets.What to expect: Identifying wading and wetland birds can be tricky, so please ask if you are unsure and share your knowledge with others if you know any tips and tricks! These events are great opportunities to practise and learn birding skills, as well as contributing to the BTO’s Core Counts records (read more about core counts here)

Hexthorep Ings - Wetland Restoration
Hexthorpe IngsCannot determine address at this location.Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we work to daylight and restore the wetland at Hexthorpe Ings. This day is a part of the All Hands on the Don project.
When: Tuesday 14th January 2025 10am – 3pm

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day, however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day, but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] or contacting Volunteering Officer Anthony Cox. Please bring your own packed lunch if you would like to stay for the whole day.
What are we doing: On the day we will be removing scrub and trees to help the site reamain wet and prevent it from becoming woodland, as well as increasing the sunlight reaching the wetland, to help encourage more plants to grow and increase biodiversity.

Dalton Brook - Clean Up
Dalton Parish HallCannot determine address at this location.Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust to remove litter and overgrown brambles from and around the Dalton Brook. Dalton Parish Council have kindly invited us to use the facilities in their hall. They have a community cafe from 9-12pm so feel free to come along early to enjoy some refreshments.
Task: Litter picking and vegetation management. We will be working along the bankside and within the brook to remove litter as well as cutting back the vegetation to daylight the watercourse.
