Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we work to daylight and restore the wetland at Hexthorpe Ings. This day is a part of the All Hands on the Don project. 

When: Wednesday 8th January 2025 10am – 3pm

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day, however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day, but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] or contacting Volunteering Officer Anthony Cox. Please bring your own packed lunch if you would like to stay for the whole day. 

What are we doing: On the day we will be removing scrub and trees to help the site reamain wet and prevent it from becoming woodland, as well as increasing the sunlight reaching the wetland, to help encourage more plants to grow and increase biodiversity.

Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust and S13 Litter Pickers as we work to remove litter from the Shirtcliff Brook in Flockton Park. 

When: Wednesday 8th January 10am – 1pm

Where: We will be meeting at the end of Goathland Drive, S13 7TD. This is one of multiple entrances to Flockton Park.

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. What to expect: We will be walking along the paths in the wood, collecting litter and brining it back up to the road. The brook is fairly small and we will be hauling larger items out of it where possible using people power and ropes. We will have a break at 11:30 am for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.
