Ings Lane - Stile Building Day
Ings Lane, ArkseyIngs Ln, Arksey, Doncaster DN5 0TAJoin the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we work to build 2 stiles and put down somne rubber matting to protect the top of the flood bank. This day is a part of the All Hands on the Don project.
When: Monday 24th November 2025 10am-2pm (Please note this day may run longer or shorter as we need to complete the work on the day)

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day, however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day, but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] or contacting Volunteering Officer Anthony Cox. Please bring your own packed lunch if you would like to stay for the whole day.
What are we doing: We will first need to transport all of the equiptment to the site (a distance of 0.8 miles) and then we will be digging holes to put in the new legs for the stile steps and postcreting them in. We will also be using the drill to attach the top of the steps. We will be installing rubber matts below the stiles to protect the top of the floodbank from foot traffic around the stile. Finally we will be removing the materials from the old stile from the site.

Hexthorpe Ings - Wetland Restoration/Outdoor Learning Day
Hexthorpe IngsCannot determine address at this location.Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we work to clear vegetation from the Hexthorpe Ings to improve the wetland. This day is a part of our All Hands on the Don project. This day will also include activities for outdoor learning such as crafts and ecology activities!
When: Tuesday 25th November 2025 10am-3pm

What are we doing: On the day we will be removing scrub and trees to help the site reamain wet and prevent it from becoming woodland, as well as increasing the sunlight reaching the wetland, to help encourage more plants to grow and increase biodiversity. We will also use trees form the site to create a willow spoial fence along the site creating a living fence.

Wardsend Cemetery - Vegetation Maintenance
Wardsend Cemetery1A Club Mill Rd, Sheffield S6 2FH, UKJoin the Don Catchment Rivers Trust to cut back vegetation along the banks of the River Don and at the entrance to Wardsend Cemetery Heritage Park.
Task: Vegetation management. Cutting back vegetation along the steep banks of the river to improve viewpoint over the watercourse and manage invasive species. We will be using loppers, saws, shears etc. We will then make habitat piles using the brash.
When: Thursday 27th November 2025, 10am – 1pm
