Riverfly Monitoring Initiative Training Day
Burton Street FoundationCannot determine address at this location.Free Riverfly Monitoring Initiative Training, Friday 16th May, 10am-3.30pmDCRT and the Friends of Wardsend Cemetery are holding a Riverfly Monitoring Initiative training course, where volunteers can become certified riverfly monitors, joining the Sheffield River Rangers group to help detect water quality issues.
When: Friday 16th May, 10am-3.30pm
Where: Burton Street Foundation in Hillsborough, Sheffield with a site visit to Wardsend Cemetery and practical session in the river Don.What‘s involved?- Beginners are very welcome and no prior knowledge on riverflies is needed – all training is given on the day.
- Please be aware RMI is very practical (you’ll need to get into the river to conduct a survey!)
- This training is for those that wish to volunteer long-term, as part of a local RMI group. Surveys are recommended once a month between April and October and take around 2 hours.
- Equipment and waders are provided for training.
Places are limited and awarded to those that can actively volunteer after the training. Please email [email protected] to express your interest in becoming a trained monitor.
