Nature Counts: Wardsend Cemetery Butterfly Survey
Wardsend Cemetery1A Club Mill Rd, Sheffield S6 2FH, UKSheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, DCRT and the friends of Wardsend Cemetery have teamed up to collect Data for Nature as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Data for Nature project.
We’ll be hosting our yearly butterfly survey in the Cemetery and on the riverside to help collect data and monitor insect-life in the area. If you have identification skills we’d really appreciate your help surveying, or if you are a beginner come along to practise your skills!Where: Wardsend Cemetery, Club Mill Road, End of Livesey Street, Sheffield

Swaithe Dike - Cleanup Day
Swaith Dike (Sprotbrough)Cannot determine address at this location.Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we help to clean up the Swaith Dike in Sprotbrough. This event is a part of the All Hands on the Don project.
When: Tuesday 19th August 2025 10am-1pm

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. CANCELLED River Loxley - Balsam Bash
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE BALSAM FLOWERS GOING INTO SEED AND SO IT NOT BEING VIABLE TO WORK ON THE SITE ANYMORE. We do not want to risk disturbing the seed pods and spreading them.
Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust alongside Friends of Loxley Valley, as we help to remove the invasive plant species Himalayan Balsam from the River Loxley in Sheffield
When: Thursday 21st August 10am-1pm
Where: EXACT MEETING POINT TBC. Please check back on this page nearer the time to see meet up point. Exact location will focus on how balsam has grown this year and so has to be determined nearer the time.

What to expect: We will be walking along the paths along the river, pulling up Himalayan Balsam and leaving it in piles once we have snaped or crushed it below the bottom node. We will have a break at for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.

Daubenton's Bat Survey
Join us for a National Bat Monitoring Scheme Waterways Survey, looking for and recording sightings of the wonderful river-loving Daubenton’s Bat. We will be completing two waterways surveys during August, on the 7th and 21st. Please note the different times of each survey as we coordinate bat surveys with sunset times.
When: Thursday 21st August
Time: Evening session, meeting at 9pm, finishing at 10.30pm
Where: Marsh Gate, Doncaster DN5 8AF (parking on the road outside the Doncaster Skate Cooperative, Unit 3, near Everyday Athlete’s Club)
