Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we are guided down the Limb Brook by the fungi expert Saffy from the Sorby Natural History Society (check out their website here). Come along and learn about fungi identification in this lovely river corridor. The event will operate via sign ups as we have limited spaces available. Priority will be given to existing volunteers but all are welcome. Please read the information and sign up using the Eventbrite link below.

We will be meeting at The Shelter near Whirlow Brook Hall and joining the Limb Valley trail behind the Hall. We will take the trail down to Ecclesall Road so it won’t be much further than 1 mile. Even though we will be covering a small distance, we will hopefully be looking at lots of interesting fungi so will allow for 1.5 – 2 hours. Those who need to leave early can do so.

When: Saturday 22nd November, 10:30am – 12:20pm

Where: The Shelter, Whirlow, Sheffield, S11 9QD

What to bring: Saffy will be leading the walk and there is no equipment needed. Please wear suitable clothing for being outdoors including sturdy shoes. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day if you’d prefer but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] to ensure we have your size.

What to expect: We will be walking along the Limb Valley Trail, stopping to look at various fungi. The path up to Whirlow Brook Hall is paved but the trail is unpaved and muddy with some uphill and downhill. The walk should be around 1 mile long. There are toilets ath The Shelter cafe so please go before the walk should you need to. Refreshments will be provided by DCRT at the end of the walk, biscuits included!
