Volunteer Training: Invasive Non-Native Species

A must for all volunteers working on the river. We will learn about Non-Native Invasive Species (INNS) on the river, how we can help deal with the problem and how we can avoid spreading them. The course will involve:

  • Intro to Invasive species and how to identify them
  • How to survey and record invasive non-native species
  • How to use Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s INNS Mapper to prioritise treatment in the Don Catchment
  • Overview of last year’s INNS treatment in the Don Catchment.
  • Biosecurity – What is it? Why is it important?

Location: Yorkshire Wildlife Trust – Potteric Carr Visitor Centre [Meeting Room], Doncaster.
Time: 10am – 4pm

    What to expect: A mixture of introductory demonstrations and practice exercises to get you familiar with the software interface and how to upload data to create your own maps. No previous experience required!
