Volunteer Day - Friends of the Don Valley Way - Hartley Brook
Hartley Brook Dike185 Butterthwaite Rd, Sheffield S5 0AT, UKJoin the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we work to clean up the area around the Hartley Brook. We will be meeting at 10am at the end of Butterwaite Road, and will finish at 1pm with a break half way through for refreshments.
Please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work.

Wildlife Wednesdays - Moss Valley
1 Ridgeway Moor, Ridgeway, Sheffield S12 3XY, UKJoin the Don Catchment Rivers Trust for Wildlife Wednesday’s in the Moss Valley every third Wednesday of the month. These volunteer days aimed at restoring the riverine environment. All abilities welcome!
Timings: 10am – 3pm with a break for lunch and refreshments. Feel free to come to part of the day if required.
What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes.
Tasks include: scrub/vegetation clearance, wood debris placement, footpath maintenance, habitat creation and access improvements.
Location: The meeting point will change each week depending on what task we will be doing. The main meeting points are the fishing ponds car park next to the Bridge Inn pub in Ridgeway and the junction of Gashouse Lane and Mill Lane near Eckington (S21 4EP) Sign-up as a volunteer under ‘catchment volunteer’ here to receive updated meeting points.

What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing (waterproof, long sleeves and trousers) and sturdy shoes.
Tasks include: Litter picking, debris removal, vegetation maintenance, invasive species management and access improvements.
Timings: Day runs 10am – 1pm but feel free to come whenever suits. We have a tea break around 11.30am.

POSTPONED Citizen Science: Identification Workshop
0 Sheepbridge Ln, Dunston Rd, Chesterfield S41 9QD, UKPlease note that this workshop has been postponed till November due to the high river levels
Help DCRT monitor the river Rother’s diversity, before and after restoration work. In this workshop we will be sorting through collected kick-samples, identifying and recording the abundance of freshwater invertebrate specimens, with a particular focus on identifying families. Please note this is not a training course, although help is given and there is lots to learn. The ability to use biological identification keys is useful, but not essential and beginners are welcome.
Microscopes will be on hand for some of the identification.

Location: Spital Trail, Clayton Street, Chesterfield, S41 0DU. Parking here is difficult, would recommend parking on streets adjacent to here e.g. Spital Lane or Stanley Street
