Lowland Meadow Survey Training (must book)
Grassmoor Country ParkGrassmoor Country Park, Birkin Lane, Chesterfield, S42 5DADCRT are looking for volunteers to help us monitor lowland and floodplain meadows. Join our training to learn to identify and survey wildflowers in these important riverside habitats.
This will be an informal outdoor session learning how to identify indicator species of meadow wildflowers and recording data using quadrats.

Ickles Lock Volunteer Day
Brinsworth St, Rotherham S60 1AB, UKJoin the Friends of the Don Valley Way as we litter pick the tow path along the canal near Ickles Lock.
On the day we will be meeting at 10am and finishing at 1pm. We will complete a risk assessment on the day to ensure the safety of all volunteers. We will be stopping half way through for a tea break. On the day you will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. We can provide wellingtons and waders however we won’t be able to provide footwear for every volunteer.

Join Don Catchment Rivers Trust for a volunteer day removing the invasive weed Himalayan Balsam from the Moss Brook Catchment. All abilities welcome!

Location: Please note, the location may change each week so you need to email [email protected] for details each week of where we are meeting.
What to bring: We will provide all necessary equipment and refreshments. All you need to wear is appropriate outdoor clothing (waterproof, long sleeves and trousers – really reccomended for the nettles!!) and sturdy shoes. Also bring your own pair of wellies if you have them. We will have a range of sizes to borrow but can’t guarantee a pair for everyone.
Tasks include: Himalayan Balsam pulling
Timings: 10am – 3pm (break 11.30am and 1pm for lunch)

Sew a Square
Monkey Park134 Chester St, Chesterfield S40 1DL, UKThe ‘Sew a Square’ event is being organized by Chesterfield Museum. They are creating a community tapestry made up of fabric squares decorated by the local community. The event is designed to help the community reflect on coronavirus and what helped them during the lockdowns.DCRT is hosting our own riverside ‘Sew a Square’ event at Monkey Park, where you can come and make your own squares for the museum tapestry. It will be a fun session where we can get crafting, have a cup of tea, and talk to each other about what has helped us through the pandemic.
