Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust at Priory Farm in Renishaw to build leaky barriers across the brook and floodplain. As water levels in the brook rise during heavy rainfall, they will hit the leaky barriers, back up behind them and spill into safe spaces in the floodplain, creating temporary storage of flood flows. PLEASE NOTE: This event is weather dependent as the site floods. If it has been, or is forecast to be wet, we may need to postpone. We will contact you if this is the case.

Task: Creating leaky barriers using hand tools (e.g. hand saws, loppers, maul) and lifting aids (e.g. timber tongs and log lifters) to prepare, move and fix logs into position.

When: Wednesday 5^th March, 10am-1pm

What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day but please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including long sleeves and trousers that you don’t mind getting muddy! Waterproofs are also worth bringing if you have them. Steel toe wellies will be required which we will provide but you’re welcome to bring your own if you have them. We will also provide refreshments and biscuits for a tea break but please bring water and any other food you may need.
