Clayton West - Clean Up
Litherop LaneCannot determine address at this location.Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we team up with Friends of the Dearne help to clean up litter from the River Dearne just outside of Clayton West, downstream of the Yorkshire Water treatment works.
When: Saturday 2nd May 2026, 10am-1pm.
Where: We will be meeting on Litherop Lane, just by the stile for the footpath for the Dearne Way. There are a few lay by/passing places for car parking on the lane but it is a small country road so please car share where possible!

This site is is frequently fly tipped so there will be larger items to move. The site is not paved and involves crossing a field and navigating river banks so please consider the need for good mobility on unstable ground. There may be the opportunity to wear waders and get in the river but we will determine the need for this on the day. We will have a break at 11:30 am for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.
What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] to ensure we have your size.

Nature Counts: Wardsend Cemetery Bird Survey
Wardsend Cemetery1A Club Mill Rd, Sheffield S6 2FH, UKSheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, DCRT and the friends of Wardsend Cemetery have teamed up to collect Data for Nature as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Data for Nature project.
We’ll be hosting monthly bird surveys in the Cemetery and on the riverside to help collect data and monitor birdlife in the area. If you have birding skills we’d really appreciate your help surveying, or if you are a beginner come along to practise your skills!Where: Wardsend Cemetery, Club Mill Road, End of Livesey Street, Sheffield

Bullhouse Mill - Balsam Bash
Bullhouse MillCannot determine address at this location.Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we help to remove the invasive plant species Himalayan Balsam from the River Don at Bullhouse Mill.
When: Tuesday 12th May, 10am – 1pm
Where: We will be working along the River Don within the Bullhouse Mill area. There is free parking at the Mill itself and local buses stop on Lee Lane too. For parking, please follow the one way signs past the factory entrance to the crescent car park.

There are no public footpaths as we will be on private land. Therefore, paths are unpaved and mostly on grassland and rocky river banks. There are toilets we will have access to in the factory. We will have a break at for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.

Even if it is warm weather, it is advisable to cover up to protect against spiky plants and stings.
