Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we help to remove the invasive plant species Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the River Dearne round the back of Hartcliffe Mills.
When: Thursday 23rd July, 10am – 1pm
Where: We will be working along the banks of the River Dearne behind the mill. We will be meeting right at the back of the car park where the DCRT van will be stationed. Please park your car on Wakefield Road or nearby and walk down as we do not have full access to the car park. Follow orange dashed line in picture below to orange X meeting point. Balsam Bashing will happen at blue X

What to expect: We will be working along banks of the River Dearne, pulling up Himalayan Balsam and leaving it in piles once we have snaped or crushed it below the bottom node. Paths are not paved around the river and is on a slant. We will have a break at 11:30 for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.
What to bring: We provide all of the equipment on the day however please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes or boots and long trousers. Even if it is warm weather, it is advisable to cover up to protect against spiky plants and stings. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] to ensure we have your size.
