Hotspot Volunteer Day: Wardsend Cemetery

Meeting Point: At Wardsend Cemetery at the end of Livesey Street past Sheffield College.

Time: 10am-1pm with a break for refreshments.

 

Task: We will be litter picking and giving the area a tidy. 

Please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work, including long sleeved shirt, long trousers and sturdy footwear. Bring waders/wellies if you have them, though there will be some to borrow on the day.

    What to expect: We will be walking along the paths in the wood, collecting litter and brining it back up to the road. We will have a break at 11:30 am for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.

    Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we help to remove the invasive plant species Himalayan Balsam from the banks of the Moss in the Moss Valley!

     

    When: Wednesday 10th July, 10am - 1pm

    Where: We will be meeting in the Ford Wheel Dam car park, S12 3YD

Even if it is warm weather, it is advisable to cover up to protect against spiky plants and stings. We can provide wellingtons to borrow on the day but please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] to ensure we have your size. 

     

    What to expect: We will be walking along the paths along the river, pulling up Himalayan Balsam and leaving it in piles once we have snaped or crushed it below the bottom node. We will have a break at for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT. With it being a longer session, you are more than welcome to bring along lunch.
