Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we help to clean up the River Don around Warmsworth Cemetery. This day is part of the All Hands on the Don project.

    Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we work to remove litter from the river Don and the Dalton Brook just behind the Dalton ASDA in Rotherham.

     

    When: Thursday 25th July 2024, 10am – 1pm

    What to expect: We will be walking along the paths along the river, collecting litter and bringing it back up to the road. We will have a break at 11:30 am for refreshments and biscuits, provided by DCRT.

    Join Don Catchment Rivers Trust and Doncaster Skate Cooperative for a Litter-pick and skate!
    Litter-pick a bag of rubbish and DSC will award you with a voucher for a FREE SKATE SESSION at DSC’s twisted skate park in Marshgate, Doncaster, plus you’ll receive a LIMITED EDITION sticker for your board!

     

    Give it a go – FREE skating trials
    We’ll be at Anchorage Lane Skate Park, cleaning up the nearby stream and riverside.
    After the litter-pick, DSC will be offering free trials and lessons

     

    Litter-pick sessions are at:
    Morning 11am-12pm
    Afternoon 1-2pm
    Make sure to book a limited free ticket

     

    What to bring
    DCRT will bring all the protective gear you need for the session. DSC will be bringing boards and safety equipment. Refreshments will be provided.

     

    Under 18?
    Accompanying under 16s are to be supervised by an adult guardian. Those between 16-18 need written permission from a parent/guardian if unaccompanied.

    This August we will be walking our Heritage Walks around the catchment, checking on our waymarking signs, picking up litter and learning about the catchment history as we go. 

     

    What to expect:

    Join us to walk the 1.6 mile 'Industrial Sheffield' route, developed as part of the DCRT Don Valley Way (DVW). The DVW is a 29 mile walk stretching from Sheffield to Doncaster. This particular circular route is an offshoot of the main way, taking in Sheffield's past. On this walk we will be exploring Kelham Island. It is an urban walk with paved paths but please wear sturdy footwear anyway.

    As part of our volunteer day we will be checking the status of the way markers and updating them if necessary with new ones. We will also do some litter picking along the way and we will stop to take in the history of the route and to look out for nature! All equipment (gloves, litter pickers, bin bags) will be provided. A tea break will be provided by DCRT too. 

     

    Distance: 1.6 miles
    Grading: Circular walk, urban, paved

    Join us to walk 4.8 miles combining two Rotherham heritage walks (Don Valley Way Rotherham 1- Cannons, Don Valley Way Rotherham 2 – A Meeting of Two Rivers). These were developed as part of the DCRT Don Valley Way (DVW). The DVW is a 29 mile walk stretching from Sheffield to Doncaster. This particular circular route is an offshoot of the main way, taking in Rotherham's town centre and green spaces. On this walk we will be exploring along urban paved paths with some steady inclines. 

    As part of our volunteer day we will be checking the status of the way markers and updating them if necessary with new ones. We will also do some litter picking along the way and we will stop to take in the history of the route and to look out for nature! All equipment (gloves, litter pickers, bin bags) will be provided. A tea break will be provided by DCRT too.
