It’s World Rivers Day!
We will be at Kelham Island Museum’s Down by the Riverside event – come along for heritage activities, live music, BBQ and Beer and Sheffield made artisans.
We will bring the Tea, coffee and biscuits! All equipment will be provided but please wear warm clothes, sturdy shoes and bring waterproofs. We offer volunteer expenses for public transport and vehicle mileage.
Meeting point: Meet at the entrance to Eastwood Village Primary School where you can access the playing fields. On-street parking is available in the Eldon road area. The site is easily accessed by foot from Parkgate (cross the footbridges from stone-row way, first over the railway and then the canal, to get to the playing fields)

Did you know that Ted Hughes was a keen fisherman? He helped to found the Westcountry Rivers Trust in 1995 and would spend much time on the rivers, catching salmon in chalk streams and studying the upwing flies found in the water. Ted Hughes spent his teenage years in Mexborough and his time around the Don influenced much of his poetry
