Back in October 2023, Stocksbridge weir was removed from the River Don as part of the effort to improve fish passage and overall river health. Next, there is some final adjustments needed on site. Bank erosion control has been identified to protect an access track and re-soiling and seeding of the upstream berm is needed after this was washed away during storm Babet.

    Tasks include:

    • Soil and seed spreading
    • Barrowing
    • In-channel wading
    • Using handtools to install large woody debris as bank erosion
    • Litter picks

We will provide all necessary equipment, refreshments and can also cover the cost of travel.

location: Stocksbridge (Deepcar) weir, S35 7DA
    When: Thursday 23rd May.
10am to 3pm with refreshment breaks (drinks and biscuits provided by DCRT), and a lunch break (please bring your own).
