Little ones and parents can learn together during our family friendly river dipping sessions. Activities are suitable for children of age 4-11 years and children must be supported by a guardian or parent during the session.

  • Explore the river using our equipment and wildlife identification guides
  • Make a dragonfly or colour a badge to take home
  • Make a boat out of recycled materials to race down the river

Children and parents will need wellington boots to explore the river.

Sessions are 1 hour long. Parents can drop by and leave any time during their pre-booked session.

Tickets are free of charge, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund

    Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust and learn about how we conserve Atlantic Salmon on the banks of the river Don. 
    Learn how DCRT have helped bring Atlantic Salmon back to the river Don through conservation - discover why the salmon disappeared and how we are working to bring them back to the Don!
    Work together to build a campfire, using traditional tools such as flint and steel. We'll be cooking a campfire lunch (toasties and s'mores) with a talk about salmon conservation from the DCRT team.
    As it's Easter there will also be some easter-themed bushcraft activities!

    When: 12pm-3pm
    We can provide a lift from our office on Wheatley Hall Road or Doncaster train station at the start and end of the day, if you let us know in advance.

    Where: Nursery Lane Car Park, near the Boat Inn with a short walk to the Salmon Pass.

    If you are between the ages of 13-15, please ask your parent/guardian to get in touch to complete a parental consent form. You can come along without a parent, however we do require signed permission from a parent or guardian in advance.

    If you are aged 16+ please let the DCRT team know if you wish to help out on our events so we can get you signed up as a volunteer. Written permission is not required but please let your parent or guardian know you are planning on attending and give them our details.

  • Conisbrough Bat Walk

    Sign up for a Bat Walk around the River Don and Don Ponds, near Burcorft Hill in Conisbrough 

    Watch and learn how these incredible nocturnal predators hunt for prey and navigate around the landscape using a special kind of sonar.

    We will be looking for different species of bats, using bat detectors to hear their fantastic calls (which the human ear cannot detect!).

    Access:
    The walk is very short and on flat ground, but please be aware we will be walking at night. Please let us know of any access requirements when booking a place.
    Lanterns will be provided for attendees. Please wrap up warm!
