The Moss Brook is known for its interesting mix of natural and industrial heritage, and the walk will be an approximately 4 mile circular route around the valley. The brook once powered eight water wheels when it was an important centre for the grinding of scythes and sickles. On the walk we will see one of the dams (Never Fear Dam), close to Ford. Also, we will stop to see ‘Seldom Seen Engine House’. This Scheduled Ancient Monument is the last remaining building from Plumbley Collieries. The Moss Valley is also a very important place for wildlife and plants, with much of the valley designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Keep a look out for the rich variety of wildflowers and listen out for the birds that make the valley their home. The walk starts and finishes at The Moss Brook Inn, Eckington. Parking is available for patrons, and the inn will be open for you purchase lunch or refreshments if you wish.
